The faculty was established in March 31, 1964 with the name of “Faculty of Education.” Training started in 1965-1966 Academic Year with 109 undergraduate students and the first students graduated in 1969. The name of the faculty changed into “Faculty of Educational Sciences” in 1983. Various scientific activities are carried out each year on March 3; the day of the unification of education was accepted.

OUR VISION
To be a faculty which investigates educational problems of the society in the light of equality and education rights for the public; find solutions and lead new movements by creating innovative educational policies; and share its knowledge with national and international academicians, public/private sectors and non governmental organizations, by carrying out theoretical and applied researches in the field of educational sciences.

OUR MISSION
The Faculty of Educational Sciences intends to:
– train educators, teachers, academicians and psychological counsellars who;
* are sensitive about humanity, society and nature,
* comprehend the importance of themselves and their profession in society and have ethical    responsibility and professional quality in the field of education,
* provide educational environments in which students can express themselves freely and to enable them deal with educational problems and find solutions.
– improve an institutional culture in which faculty members could gain responsibility and quality in their academic works supporting creative and effective thinking for new development and interdisciplinary movements.
– organize symposia, conferences, panels, workshops at national and international level in cooperation with other social scientists.
– construct theoretical and applied research projects and undertake publications.
– facilitate physical and technological environments that improve academicians’ and students’ knowledge and communication skills.
AIM OF THE FACULTY
The aims of the faculty, directed by scientific principles and ethical values’, are to develop
solutions for universal and national educational problems by means of theoretical and applied research, to organise and participate in scientific activities, to share the accumulated knowledge with public and private educational institutions.
Moreover, the faculty intends to raise creative, participative and productive individuals,
who benefits from technology, believe in importance of democracy and human rights and
realise their social responsibility.
